Description
I would like to teach English, full-time at your fine institute to mature students and adults. I have reached a stage in my life wherein I feel a need to give back and share the knowledge I have been fortunate enough to gain in order to further grow in this voyage that is life. I believe that the experience would be one of enrichment to the students as well as myself in the sense that what will be taught and learned on both sides will not only be on an academic level but a cultural one as well. An issue I realized with my visit was that, of the Koreans that can speak and perhaps understand English, a great majority couldnât convey (i.e. pronounce) enough to hold a conversation with a native English speaker, hence my desire to teach English. I find myself an eligible candidate to teach English due to the fact that I have tutored students and friends, along with those that I have mentored as a KASEO member. I have tutored my family (i.e. parents and numerous cousins) for over 8 years in the English language. My degree from U.C.L.A. shows that I have the academic credentials to teach English whether it is verbal or written. In addition, my double major and minor shows that I have the drive and hunger to achieve the utmost from any given situation. I have worked as a writer for the Research and Development sector of an English Academy, having authored a comprehensive review book for the novel Maniac Magee. In addition, I have taught English classes to first graders, 5 days a week in Seoul, Korea (Songpa). Currently, I am an English Teacher for CS Samsung Edu. in Shenzhen of China to Korean high school students. I teach Grammar, Vocabulary, Reading Comprehension, TOEFL (Reading, Writing, Speaking, Listening), along with S.A.T. (Reading, Writing, Vocabulary). I have a willingness, desire and passion to teach other Koreans proper English, not âKonglishâ as some have dubbed. Furthermore, I am patient, understanding and a fast learner. In closing, I hope that you will consider me an eligible candidate to teach English at your institute and I thank you kindly for taking the time.
